On the Name
The name “Guanju Society” is derived from Guanju, the opening poem of the Book of Songs.
Beginning from Relation and Order
As the first poem in the Book of Songs, Guanju is traditionally regarded as the starting point of ordered emotional expression in classical Chinese thought. It presents not merely romantic affection, but a form of relationship shaped by restraint and propriety. Through such structured interaction, human relations acquire stability, forming a foundation for social order.
Xian signifies responsiveness and mutual attraction: the emergence of relational connection.
Heng signifies continuity and endurance: the stabilization of relationships over time.
The relation between man and woman is not merely private, but foundational to social and civilizational order.
